Delhi Election Results: 'Dilli Walon, I Love You', Says Arvind Kejriwal After AAP's Historic Win

The Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is poised to win 63 of Delhi's 70 seats, leaving the BJP with seven and decimating the Congress, overcoming the BJP's divisive campaign.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said the party's landslide victory in the capital was a blessing of Lord Hanuman. Kejriwal was addressing volunteers at the party office for the first time after he got a clear majority in the Delhi Assembly poll results on Tuesday. Kejriwal had been mocked by the BJP after he recited Hanuman Chalisa on TV and visited a Hanuman temple a day before polling. Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal told the capital's citizens "I love you" in his expression of thanks for the overwhelming mandate. He said it was not just his victory but a victory for everybody. "Delhi has given the message that they will vote for those who will provide schools, cheap electricity and hospitals. This is a new kind of politics. It is a new and good sign for the nation." Kejriwal said a new kind of politics has been born today -- "the politics of work". "This politics will make us of the 21st century India," he said. "It is Tuesday and Hanuman ji has blessed us. We, the 2 crore people of Delhi, will make the city beautiful," the Chief Minister said, thanking everyone for the victory. "My family also supported me. It is my wife's birthday. I had cake, you will also get it," Kejriwal said. "People elected us with high hopes. I cannot do it alone, we all have to work together," he added. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party has won 46 assembly seats and leading on 16 as per latest results and trends, with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other prominent faces Manish Sisodia and Raghav Chadha emerging victorious. The BJP has won five seats and is leading on three others, while the Congress stares at a blank. The Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is poised to win 63 of Delhi's 70 seats, leaving the BJP with seven and decimating the Congress, overcoming the BJP's divisive campaign.
