Delhi Polls 2020: From Flour @ Rs 2/Kg To 10 Lakh Jobs, Promises Made In BJP's Manifesto

New Delhi: With days left for the much crucial Delhi Assembly Elections 2020, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released 'Delhi Sankalp Patra', its manifesto for the polls and asserted that the party will change the future of national capital if it comes to power. The document was released in presence of Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Prakash Javadekar, Harsh Vardhan, party's Delhi unit president Manoj Tiwari and other BJP leaders.
Addressing the media, Gadkari said the party will run the "bullet train" of development in the national capital. "BJP's history is linked to Delhi. The future of Delhi will be changed by the BJP," he said. While releasing the manifesto, Gadkari also said that whenever the BJP has got a chance, it has served the people of the capital.
"The BJP has worked to change the fortunes and future of Delhi," he said. The senior BJP leader also pointed out that main issues in Delhi for his party are air and water pollution. "It will be our priority to tackle water and air pollution," he said.
Here are top 10 highlights of BJP's election manifesto - Sankalp Patra - released by the party for Delhi Assembly Elections 2020:
- BJP promised a corruption-free government in the national capital and a development board for the newly-authorised colonies.
- People to get clean water in their taps and the dependency on water tankers will become zero, if BJP comes to power in Delhi.
- If elected to power, BJP will also implement central schemes like Ayushman Yojna, Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna and Kisan Samman Yojna in Delhi.
- Samrudh Delhi Infrastructure Policy with proposed funding of Rs 10,000 crores to be started by BJP after winning polls.
- BJP said that it will give 10 lakh jobs to the unemployed in a span of next five years.
- In its election manifesto, the saffron party also said that it will promote the usage of electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce pollution in the national capital.
- Under the 'effective public distribution system', aata (wheat flour) will be available to poor families at a subsidised rate of Rs 2 per kilogram.
- BJP also said that 351 Delhi roads, which come under mixed land use, will be notified and developed if their government comes to power.
- BJP said it would work on a highway project that allow people to travel from Delhi to Mumbai in 12 hours.
- BJP has also promised guaranteed Rs 2 lakh to each poor girl child at the time of her birth, electric scooter for poor girls going to college, Rs 51,000 for poor widows for their daughter's marriage and a free bicycle for class 9 girl students.
Voting for the much-awaited Delhi Assembly Elections 2020 will take place on February, with results due to be announced three days later on February 11. As off now, several Opinion polls have given a massive mandate to ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The main contest in Delhi is between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, the BJP and the Congress.
