India Records 21,257 Covid Cases In Last 24 Hrs, Active Cases Lowest In 205 Days

Corona Cases Update: India has witnessed a marginal dip in Coronavirus cases after registering a surge in the last few days. The country has reported 21,257 fresh infections in the last 24 hours taking the active caseload at 2,40,221 which is the lowest in 205 days, informed the Union Health Ministry.

Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.71%, the lowest since March 2020. The recovery rate is currently at 97.96% that is the highest since March 2020

24,963 patients have recovered in the country in the last 24 hours taking the total Recoveries to 3,32,25,221

Kerala

Kerala on Thursday logged 12,288 fresh COVID-19 cases and 141 deaths, taking the infection count to 47,63,722 and fatalities to 25,952.

The number of people who recovered from the disease since Wednesday was 15,808, which brought the total recoveries to 46,18,408 and the active cases to 1,18,744, an official press release said.

As many as 99,312 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest number of cases with 1,839, followed by Thrissur (1,698), Thiruvananthapuram (1,435) and Kozhikode (1,033).

The State has been showing a decline in the daily fresh cases after crossing the 30,000-mark post-Onam festival in August.

Maharashtra

 Maharashtra on Thursday reported 2,681 new coronavirus positive cases, taking its overall infection tally to 65,70,472, while the death of 49 persons pushed the toll to 1,39,411, the health department said.

A total of 2,413 patients recuperated and were discharged during the day, which increased the recovery count to 63,94,075, it said in a statement.

There are 33,397 active cases in the state at present.

Maharashtra's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 97.32 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.

As 1,47,320 people were tested during the day, the state's cumulative test count reached 5,97,66,957.

Mumbai city reported 453 cases and five deaths. So far, 7,47,156 cases and 16,141 deaths have been recorded in the metropolis.

Mumbai division, which comprises the city and its satellite townships, logged 995 cases and seven deaths during the day.

The number of infection cases and deaths recorded so far by this region is 16,83,489 and 35,320 respectively.
