India Reports 7,579 Coronavirus Cases In Last 24 Hrs, Lowest In 543 Days

The country's active caseload now stands at 1,13,584 which is the lowest in 536 days

New Delhi: India has registered more decline in Coronavirus cases than Monday and the daily surge in cases is on a 543 day low. The country has reported 7,579 new cases in the last 24 hours while 12,202 patients have recovered from the virus. 236 people lost their lives in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.

The country's active caseload now stands at 1,13,584 which is the lowest in 536 days and the active cases now account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.33%, lowest since March 2020.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 46 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 149 consecutive days now.

The active cases declined to 1,13,584 and comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.32 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

Kerala

 Kerala recorded 5,080 fresh coronavirus infections and 196 deaths on Sunday, raising the caseload to 50,89,175 and the toll to 37,495, reported PTI.

With 7,908 more people recovering from the virus since Saturday, the total recoveries crossed 50 lakh to reach 50,04,786 and the active cases dropped to 58,088, an official press release said.

Of the 196 deaths, 40 were reported over the last few days and 156 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the release said.

As many as 53,892 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest with 873 cases followed by Kozhikode (740) and Thiruvananthapuram (621).

Maharashtra

Maharashtra has reported eight fresh fatalities and 656 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest one-day figures since April 2020, mentioned in a PTI report.

He said with these additions, the tally of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 66,30,531, while the death toll increased 1,40,747.

Maharashtra has recorded the lowest daily cases since April 30, 2020, when the tally was 583, and the least number of deaths since April 17, 2020, when 7 patients had succumbed to the infection.

The tally of new cases at 656 came on the back of less than 70,000 coronavirus tests.

The state has witnessed a dip in new COVID-19 cases and also fatalities, as compared to Sunday when it had logged 845 COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths.
