Congress To Hold Day-Long 'Satyagraha' Today In Protest Against Rahul Gandhi's Disqualification

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will stage the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ at Raj Ghat in the national capital.

New Delhi: The Congress is set to organise a day-long 'Satyagraha' on Sunday in protest against disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha in front of Gandhi statues at all states and district headquarters, news agency PTI reported.

The nationwide protest will begin at 10am and end at 5pm.

"We are planning a nationwide movement tomorrow. We will hold a ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ from 10 am all over India. The Sankalp Satyagraha will be held in all state headquarters," Congress's KC Venugopal said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will stage the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ at Raj Ghat in the national capital.

The Congress said that Rahul Gandhi's conviction in the defamation case and his disqualification from Lok Sabha, which it alleged was done in reaction to his consistently questioning the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and businessman Gautam Adani, poses a serious threat to India’s democracy.

The grand old party has said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is not alone and millions of party workers and people, irrespective of their political affiliations, will join him in this fight for truth and justice.

In view of the recent developments, all Pradesh Congress Committees have been asked to organise a day-long Satyagraha in front of Gandhi statues in all the state and district headquarters from 10am to 5pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, after his disqualification, Rahul Gandhi said, "I am here to defend democratic voice of the people of India. I will continue to do that. I am not scared of anyone."

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi said, "The Prime Minister is scared of my next speech on Adani. I will continue to raise questions about PM Modi and Adani's relationship. I will continue to fight."
