Congress MP Rajiv Satav Passes Away At 46, Had Contracted Covid 19
Satav, 46, a member of the AICC and considered a bulwark of his party in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, had tested positive on April 22.
New Delhi: Senior Congress Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Satav passed away died at a private hospital here on Sunday, days after recovering from coronavirus infection, hospital sources said.
The 46-year-old leader was on ventilator support at the hospital after his health deteriorated.
Satav, considered close to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, had tested positive for coronavirus infection on April 22.
Satav was later diagnosed with a new viral infection and was in a critical condition.
Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed grief over the untimely death of the young leader.
Expressing his anguish, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala took to Twitter and said that he was shocked by the news.
Rajiv Satav was elected to Lok Sabha from Hingoli in Maharashtra in 2014 but did not contest in 2019. However, the Congress got him elected to Rajya Sabha. He was the son of former state minister Rajani Satav.
He was earlier president of the Indian Youth Congress.
