Congress mulls four working presidents in CWC; Ahmed Patel, Priyanka Gandhi among front-runners

The Congress senior leadership mulls having four working presidents as part of their working committee, each of whom would report to the Party president in the reporting hierarchy.

A day after Congress party president Rahul Gandhi's resignation was not accepted by the Congress Working committee (CWC) , reports of a major restructuring within the Congress party in on the cards after their dismal performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls. The Congress senior leadership mulls having four working presidents as part of their working committee, each of whom would report to the Party president in the reporting hierarchy. As per sourced placed close to the matter, the names of Ahmed Patel, Captain Amrinder Singh, Priyanka Gandhi are being considered for the four top level positions. As per reports, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at senior leaders of the Congress  in the CWC meeting on Sunday for placing their vested interests over and above the party and the debacle of the party in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls. The Indian National Congress had one of their worst performances in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, managing to just secure just 52 seats. A spree of senior Congress leaders who had been chief ministers lost the elections. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections were held across seven phases in 542 constituencies from April 11 to May 19. The counting of the votes happened on May 23 with BJP-led NDA winning the polls with a thumping majority.
