Condemnation Not Enough, Need To Counter 'Radical Forces', Says NSA Doval. Sufi Clerics Demand PFI Ban

The resolution taken during the dialogue also stated action should be taken as per the  provision of law against anyone or any organisation who spread hatred among communities.

New Delhi: Muslim cleric Hazrat Syed Naseruddin Chishty on Saturday called for a ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) and other "radical organisations" during an interfaith dialogue in presence of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. "..We condemn when an incident occurs. It's time to do something. Need of hour to rein in and ban radical organisations. Be it any radical organisation, including PFI they should be banned if there is evidence against them," Chisty said during the meet.

The resolution taken during the dialogue also stated action should be taken as per the  provision of law against anyone or any organisation who spread hatred among communities. "At the same time, we strongly recommend that any person or organisation found guilty with evidence of spreading hatred among the communities through any means must be acted upon as per the provisions of law,"  the resolution stated reported news agency ANI.

"Targeting any God/Godesses/ Prophets in discussions/debates by anyone should be condemned and dealt with as per law," it stated further as per the report by the news agency.

The statements made during the dialogue comes in the light of recent series of events where former spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Nupur Sharma made controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad during a TV debate show sparking outrage across several parts of the country.  Violent protests took place in various cities against Sharma demanding her arrest. Things took a dark turn after a tailor, Kanhaiya Lal in Rajasthan's Udaipur was beheaded for supporting Sharma.

Gulf countries too had registered their protest by summoning Indian High Commission in their respective countries and taking Indian products off the shelves in stores after which the saffron party had suspended Sharma and its other member Naveen Jindal.
