Chinese Troops Were Armed With Stick Machetes & Spears During Fresh Border Tensions: Sources

The Chinese army approached the Indian post in Mukhpari area of Rezang-La ridgeline in eastern Ladakh on Monday evening with an aim to remove the Indian forces from the strategic heights.

New Delhi: In the latest incursion bid by Chinese army in Rezang-La ridgeline in eastern Ladakh on Monday evening, government sources have said that the Chinese troops carried rods, spears, clubs and sharp weapons while trying to close in on Indian position. Also Read: Chinese Army Responds To India's Hotline Message, Says 5 Missing Youth From Arunachal Pradesh Found On Their Side The Chinese army approached the Indian post in Mukhpari area of Rezang-La ridgeline in eastern Ladakh on Monday evening with an aim to remove the Indian forces from the strategic heights in Mukhpari peak and Rezang-La areas. Around 50-60 soldiers of Chinese People's Liberation Army(PLA) had approached the Indian post with stick machetes along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh sector. The incident took place around 6 PM but the Indian Army personnel posted there strongly confronted them, forcing their retreat. Also Read | Situation Tensed At Ladakh LAC, Indian And Chinese Troops In Face-Off Position Near Rezang La Heights: Sources As per sources quoted by news agency PTI, the Chinese troops were carrying rods, spears, clubs and sharp weapons, it can be recalled that during the June 15 face-off in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred, the Chinese army had used barbed wire sticks to attack Indian forces. It may be recalled that the Chinese troops had mounted a savage attack on Indian soldiers with stones, nail-studded sticks, iron rods and clubs during the Galwan Valley clashes in eastern Ladakh on June 15 in which 20 Indian Army personnel were killed. As per sources, the Chinese army also violated the ceasefire after a gap of 45 years in the first use of firearms as they 10-15 rounds in the air to intimidate Indian soldiers.
