'Children Will Live In Bigger Flat': Beneficiaries Look Forward To Inauguration Of EWS Flats By PM Modi
The construction of 3,024 flats have been completed under the Phase 1 of the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at a cost of about Rupees 345 crores.
New Delhi: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the EWS flat for rehabilitating slum dwellers, the beneficiaries expressed their content over getting a permanent roof over their heads. Speaking to news agency ANI, one of the beneficiaries said that she is happy that her children will be able to live in a big flat.
"I'll get to move out of this congestion. I was born here and now I've grown-up children.They'll live in a big flat," she said.
Another beneficiary, Gopal Mandal who lived in a slum for the last 40 years said that it was “a joyous day” for him.
“I lived here for 40 yrs. It's a joyous day, we've been told that we'll get the keys (to flats) today,” he told the news agency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today inaugurate 3,024 newly constructed flats for beneficiaries belonging to the Economically Weaker Section category at Vigyan Bhawan here. The flats, built for rehabilitating slum dwellers under 'In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project', will be handed over by the Prime Minister to these beneficiaries at Bhoomiheen camp during the event.
The construction of 3,024 flats have been completed under the Phase 1 of the project at a cost of about Rupees 345 crores.
The flats are equipped with all civic amenities including finishing having been done with vitrified floor tiles, ceramics tiles, Udaipur green marble counter in kitchen, etc.
Public amenities like community parks, electric substations, sewage treatment plants, dual water pipelines, lifts, underground reservoirs for hygienic water supply have also been provided in these flats.
