Caught On Cam: At Least 13 Injured In Leopard Attack In Assam's Jorhat
Superintendent of Police of Jorhat district, Mohan Lal Meena, said that 13 persons, including three forest staff, were injured in the attack.
New Delhi: At least 13 people were reportedly injured in a series of attacks by a leopard in upper Assam’s Jorhat district on Monday, ANI reported.
In the last 24 hours, the leopard attacked forest officials and the residents of the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI), including women and children, in the Jorhar region while being on a run from the forest officials.
Videos shared on Twitter by the officials showed a leopard moving around the campus of RFRI. In another video, the leopard is seen jumping over a building fence and attacking a four-wheeler with people inside.

Superintendent of Police of Jorhat district, Mohan Lal Meena, said that 13 persons, including three forest staff, were injured in the attack, reported ANI.
“All the injured were admitted to a local hospital. They are said to be out of danger,” the Superintendent of Police said.
The incident was reported around the Rain Forest Research Institute, which is located on the outskirts of Jorhat surrounded by forests and the leopard is believed to have intruded into the campus from there.
“When our team reached the area, the leopard attacked two of our staff. Our second team also reached the spot and we are monitoring the situation and trying to tranquillize the leopard. Three of our teams are here now,” ANI reported quoting the forest official.
Earlier, on December 12 in Chattisgarh, an elderly woman was killed in a leopard attack in Gadhaura village in the Kunwarpur forest area in the Manendragarh district of Chhattisgarh.
