2 BSF Personnel Suffer Gunshot Injuries As Pakistan Rangers Open Fire Along IB In Jammu

Two BSF personnel received gunshots in a firing incident along the International Border in Jammu.

Two personnel of the Border Security Force suffered gunshot injuries in a firing incident along the International Border in Jammu on Tuesday evening, said the officials. The injured personnel were rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital and their condition was stated to be "stable", as per a PTI report.

BSF's Public Relations Office said in a statement that two of its personnel received bullet injuries and were immediately provided medical assistance.

"Yesterday the Pak Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing towards BSF troops which was befittingly retaliated by alert BSF troops in the Arnia Sector. Two BSF personnel received bullet injuries and have been immediately provided medical assistance," said the PRO in a statement.

Last month, a Border Security Force constable went missing from his post near the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The constable who hailed from Bihar was on general duty at the Bharani forward post in Balakote sector when he went missing and a search operation was carried out.

A missing report was lodged in the matter after the constable could not be traced by the authorities.

The incident came just two weeks after another army soldier went missing from Kashmir's Kulgam district in August when he came to visit his family during his leave.

The soldier, identified as Javaid Ahmad Wani went missing on August 29, while his car was found in Paranhall, prompting fears that he could have been abducted by terrorists. He was, however, found by Kulgam Police a week later.
