CJI Chandrachud To Administer Oath To Justices Ujjal Bhuyan, S V Bhatti As SC Judges Today
Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud will administer the oath of office to two judges designate of the Supreme Court justices Ujjal Bhuyan and S Venkatanarayana Bhatti on Friday. According to the apex court website, the swearing-in ceremony will be held at 10 AM in the newly built auditorium in the additional building complex of the Supreme Court.
The central government cleared the names of Justice Bhuyan, the chief justice of the Telangana High Court, and Justice Bhatti, his counterpart in Kerala, for elevation to the top court on July 12.
BJP Chief Nadda To Visit Himachal Today To Take Stock Of Flood Situation
BJP president J P Nadda will visit Himachal Pradesh on Friday to take stock of the situation following heavy destruction due to landslides and floods in the state. Nadda will arrive in the state in the morning and will visit flood-ravaged areas of Mandi and Kullu districts and interact with people, a release issued here by the party on Thursday said.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur will also visit his home constituency Hamirpur from July 14-16 and will meet the flood-affected people.
Excise Policy Case: SC To Hear AAP Leader Manish Sisodia's Bail Pleas Today
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Friday the bail pleas of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case being probed by the CBI and the money-laundering matter arising out of it. According to the cause list uploaded on the apex court website, a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Bela M Trivedi is slated to hear his petitions challenging the separate orders of the Delhi High Court which refused to grant him bail in these cases.
On July 10, a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud agreed to hear the pleas of the former Delhi deputy chief minister on July 14.
NIA Arrests Two Persons In J&K Terror Conspiracy Case
In a major breakthrough in Jammu and Kashmir terror conspiracy case, the National Investigation Agency today arrested two persons, involved with Kashmiri terror groups, from Srinagar, ANI reported. NIA investigations have revealed that the two accused arrested today were in continuous contact with Pakistan-based Commanders and active members of various terrorist outfits through social media applications. They were working as OGWs of the terrorists, and had been actively involved in transporting weapons and funds from one place to another, on the directions of Pak-based Commanders and handlers, as part of a bigger conspiracy.
