Priyanka Gandhi Arrested After FIR Filed Against Her & Other Congress Leaders For 'Disturbing Peace'
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has been arrested by the UP Police and the Sitapur PAC guest house has been converted as a temporary jail.
New Delhi: After Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that she has been detained at the Sitapur guest house without any legal warrant, now a case has been registered against her and the leader has been arrested.
An FIR has been registered against 11 people including Priyanka Gandhi, Deependra Hooda, and Ajay Kumar Lallu for disturbing the peace, informed the SHO Hargaon Police Station, Sitapur district.
According to ABP News inputs, Priyanka Gandhi has been arrested under sections 151,107,116 and the PAC guest house has been converted as a temporary jail for the Congress general secretary. The FIR stated that she was arrested at 4:30 am on October 4 and not detained. The Hargaon SHO had also sent challan 151 to the magistrate after that.
This comes after the Congress general secretary shared back-to-back tweets calling out the central and the state government for detaining opposition leaders and stopping them from visiting the Lakhimpur violence sit where 8 people died including four farmers.
However, the UP government has restricted everyone to visit the site as Section 144 had been imposed in the area on Sunday night.
Congress workers have been holding a massive sit-in protest outside the Sitapur PAC guest house where Priyanka Gandhi was detained on Monday.
Earlier during the day, the leader tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter and asked "Why is it that your government has kept me in custody for the last 28 hours without any order and FIR and the person who trampled on farmers has not been arrested yet.
The Congress general secretary also shared an alleged video of the incident where are car is seen hitting a number of people and crushing them. The video is claimed to be of the violent incident that happened in Lakhimpur which left 8 people dead, including four farmers who were trampled by the car.
Vadra also shared a video of herself from the detention center which was addressed to the Prime Minister saying, " I got to know you are visiting Lucknow today on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Have you seen this video? (shares viral video of farmers being trampled by a car). Please look at the video and answer me why is the Lakhimpur accused free and why political leaders are detained without any order. Please come to Lakhimpur and hear out the ordeal of the farmers who have been suffering for months."
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi was detained on Monday from Hargaon while she was on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet the family members of the deceased farmers. Congress had shared several videos on Twitter where Priyanka Gandhi can be seen asking questions to the cops for not allowing her to visit the violence site.
