'Metroman' E Sreedharan To Be BJP's Chief Ministerial Candidate For Kerala Assembly Elections 2021

The BJP on Thursday announced that E Sreedharan, popularly known as the ‘Metro Man’, would be the party’s chief minister candidate for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. Sreedharan, 88, joined the BJP last week.

E Sreedharan, who is known as  Metroman, will be the chief ministerial candidate for the Bhartiya Janata Party. BJP state president K Surendran, currently on a state-wide political tour, Vijay Yatra, said “The party will soon release a list of other candidates as well along with the CM candidate.

Though there has been no official announcement the party is likely to make a decision soon.

E Sreedharan's entry into the BJP is considered to be a major achievement for the BJP in Kerala

The Metro Man holds an image of an impeccable bureaucrat and is very popular in Kerala.

Before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, E Sreedharan had praised PM Modi and said that the Prime Minister is one of the most qualified leaders in the country and that the future of the country is in the best hands. It is believed that E Sreedharan had decided to join the Bhartiya Janata Party since the time PM Modi came to power. The 88-year-old E. Sreedharan while talking to the media, confirmed that he had made up his mind to go to the BJP and said that he did not decide to go to BJP in a day, he wanted to work for the state, so he served the metro rails. He also clarified that after joining BJP, he would stop the consultancy for the Kerala government's metro project "
 
E Sreedharan is famous for completing and running the first freight corridor even before time which includes the Delhi Metro. EV Sreedharan has received many awards. The Metroman was awarded the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan Award in 2008. The French government awarded E Sreedharan its highest civilian order in 2005. Not only this but America's world-famous magazine 'TIME' gave him the title of "Asia Hero".
 
Sreedharan was born on 12 June 1932 in Palakkad, Kerala. His family belongs to Karukputhur in Palakkad, E Sreedharan received his civil engineering degree from Government Engineering College in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, after which he joined Indian Railway Service.

E Sreedharan has given services to Delhi Metro, Kochi Metro, Lucknow Metro, it is generally believed that politics do not have an age of retirement and E Sreedharan's entry into politics at the age of 88 proves this, It is not clear whether he will contest the assembly elections in Kerala in April.
