Ahmedabad Airport Will Be Closed For Nine Hours Every Day From Today Till May 31. Check Details

Except on public holidays and Sundays, the resurfacing work will be carried out at the airport from 9 am to 6 pm.

New Delhi: Those taking flights to Ahmedabad this week, here’s an important announcement made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. One of the busiest non-metro airports in the country, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport will remain partially shut from Monday.

The airport will be closed for nine hours every day from Monday (January 17) onwards till 31 May 2022. It is to be noted that the airport will not be operating from 9 am to 6 pm on all weekdays due to planned 'recarpeting work' on the runway.

“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport will carry out scheduled runway re-carpeting work from 17 January 2022 to 31 May 2022. This work will be carried out from 9 am to 6 pm. We regret the inconvenience," the Airport informed the passengers through a tweet from its official Twitter handle.</p

Around 52 arriving and departing flights will be rescheduled from the airport from Monday, airport officials told the Times of India. The work on the runway will begin on January 17 and conclude on May 31.

Except on public holidays and Sundays, the resurfacing work will be carried out from 9 am to 6 pm. The airport on average witnesses 200 domestic and international flights operating from the arrival and departure terminals every day.

“Some 26 arriving and 26 departing flights, mainly comprising domestic flights, have been rescheduled,” according to the airport spokesperson quotes in the report.

According to the Mint report, Adani Group last year reached out to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to delay the partial shutting of operations at the Ahmedabad airport, which was initially scheduled to take place between November 2021 and May 2022.

The Adani Group cited a revival in passenger traffic during this year’s festive season at that time.

Meanwhile, Gujarat has recorded 10,150 fresh coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, raising the state tally to 9,26,240, the health department stated.
