After PM Modi's Security Lapse, BSF Seizes Abandoned Pakistani Boat Near Ferozepur In Punjab

Because of its proximity to Pakistan's international border, Ferozepur is a very sensitive area. Earlier in the district, Pakistani drones breached Indian airspace.

New Delhi: An abandoned Pakistani boat was captured by the Border Security Force (BSF) at a border outpost in Punjab's Ferozepur district on Friday.

Because of its proximity to Pakistan's international border, Ferozepur is a very sensitive area. Earlier in the district, Pakistani drones breached Indian airspace.

The wooden boat was discovered by men from the 136 Battalion while on patrol near the DT Mall border checkpoint along the international boundary, according to a senior BSF official.

"In winters, the area remained covered under thick fog. After the boat was recovered, we conducted a search operation in the area and alerted local villages to inform BSF in case they see any suspicious activity. Such boats are often used for smuggling of narcotics substance and arms from across the border," a senior BSF official was quoted by ANI in its report.

PM Modi's Security Breach

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur was called off on Wednesday citing a major security lapse. The PM was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes due to the road being blocked by some protesters, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday briefed President Ram Nath Kovind on the security breach that stalled his Punjab visit.

“President Ram Nath Kovind met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan today and received from him a first-hand account of the security breach in his convoy in Punjab yesterday. The President expressed his concerns about the serious lapse,” the President’s Office tweeted.
