Aero India Is A Forum To Forge Strategic Partnerships, Says Rajnath Singh

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said Aero India 2025 will provide a platform for nations to explore joint capabilities and address strategic needs. He emphasised global unity in addressing security challenges

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasised the importance of global unity in addressing contemporary security challenges and ensuring mutual prosperity, speaking at the Ambassadors’ Round-Table held as a prelude to Aero India 2025. The event, which took place in New Delhi on Friday, was attended by ambassadors and high commissioners from various countries.

During his address, Rajnath Singh stressed the need for like-minded nations to unite and take collective actions for peace and prosperity in the face of multiple geopolitical tensions. “It is of paramount importance that the like-minded countries should strive together for collective actions for peace and prosperity. Without these, our future generations will not be able to take advantage of economic growth or technological innovations that we are experiencing in today’s era,” he said.

Rajnath Singh described Aero India as a significant event where nations come together to form bonds beyond borders. “Aero India is an event where nations come together and form bonds beyond boundaries. It has proven itself as the meeting ground for the aerospace and defence sectors to showcase their products and technologies,” he said. He highlighted the forum's role in forging strategic partnerships, facilitating business opportunities, technology transfer, joint development, and co-production.

The Defence Minister pointed out that Aero India 2025 offers an opportunity for nations to explore joint capabilities and address both strategic and tactical needs. “Aero India 2025 will serve as a vital forum for exploring partnerships that will form the base for future challenges. Together, we can create pathways for growth that are inclusive and sustainable,” he said.

He also noted that India is emerging as a leading voice for the Global South, advocating for a multi-aligned policy approach that ensures diverse views are considered in the collective pursuit of prosperity. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has articulated India’s commitment to addressing global challenges through five guiding principles: Respect, Dialogue, Cooperation, Peace & Prosperity,” Rajnath Singh added. He further mentioned India’s longstanding principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, ‘One Earth, One Family’, which was highlighted during the G-20 Summit in 2023.

Aero Space Power New Frontier Of Military Dominance, Acts As Strategic Deterrence: Rajnath Singh

Acknowledging India’s position as one of the largest defence industrial ecosystems in Asia, Rajnath Singh assured that the government is committed to further enhancing its capabilities. He cited the collaboration between Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Airbus Defence & Space to set up a manufacturing facility for C-295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force as an example of the sector’s growing potential.

The Defence Minister also underlined the increasing importance of air and space power in shaping modern military strategies, particularly with the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning systems. He described aerospace power as the new frontier of military dominance and strategic deterrence.

“Aero Space Power is the new frontier of military dominance which acts as strategic deterrence,” he remarked.

In his address, Rajnath Singh reiterated the government's focus on achieving self-reliance through strategic partnerships and technological collaborations in the defence and aerospace sectors. He mentioned that several transformative policy reforms have been introduced to bolster India’s defence industry, including initiatives promoting domestic design, development, manufacturing, and exports. Aerospace has been recognised as a core sector under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ programme.

Looking ahead, Rajnath Singh expressed excitement about welcoming international ministers, officials, and business delegations to Aero India 2025, where new opportunities for collaboration in the aerospace and defence industries will be explored.

During the round-table, attendees were briefed about the major events of Aero India 2025, and a personal invitation was extended to senior leadership from various countries, as per a statement by the defence ministry. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, among others.

Aero India 2025

Aero India 2025 is set to take place from February 10 to 14 at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The event will feature a range of activities, including business days, a Defence Ministers’ Conclave, CEOs’ Round-Table, air shows, exhibitions, and a trade fair. It aims to foster partnerships between foreign and Indian firms, contributing to the indigenisation process and enhancing India’s position in the global aerospace and defence value chain.

"Aero India attracts a large number of exhibitors from the world’s leading industries in the field of aerospace and defence. It provides a unique opportunity for the industry to showcase their capabilities, products and services to the targeted audience. The biennial event serves as a platform for industry leaders to connect and shape the future of aerospace & defence industries," the defence ministry stated.
