AAP's Sanjay Singh Slams BJP For Defending Shah's Remarks On Ambedkar, Calls ONOE 'Formula For Stupidity'

Sanjay Singh trained guns at the BJP over 'One Nation, One Election', calling the bill a "formula for stupidity", which he said could lead to dictatorship in the country.

The Aam Aadmi Party continued its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party over Amit Shah's remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as party MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday slammed the BJP for defending the Union Home Minister, and called out the BJP for its "anti-Dalit" and "anti-Constitution" mindset. He also targeted the Centre over the 'One Nation, One Election' bill.

"Despite Amit Shah's remarks insulting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the BJP is defending his statement. Not a single BJP leader has condemned Shah’s statement, which highlights the BJP’s anti-Dalit, anti-oppressed, and anti-marginalized mentality," he said.

Singh further accused the BJP workers of creating a chaos in Chandigarh where the AAP was staging a protest against the party against Shah's remarks. The AAP leader also said that the UP police resorted to lathicharge when the AAP workers were protesting in Lucknow in the cold weather.

Criticising the BJP leaders for defending Shah despite him "insulting" Ambedkar, he pointed out that this revealed the saffron party's attitude towards Dalits, the oppressed, and the marginalised people of the country.

Singh alleged that the RSS and BJP had opposed the reservations system as he hit out at the party for excluding former President Ram Nath Kovind and President Droupadi Murmu from the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya earlier this year. He claimed that the BJP, by doing so, demonstrated a "consistent pattern of disrespect" towards Ambedkar and the backward communities.

The AAP Rajya Sabha leader further trained guns at the central government over 'One Nation, One Election', calling the bill a "formula for stupidity", which he said could lead to dictatorship in the country.

Opposing the simultaneous elections, he argued that the frequent elections could benefit people as governments are compelled to address public grievances before elections. He also expressed concern that 'One Nation, One Election' would give power to govern arbitrarily and break lawmakers and opposition alliances as and when needed.

"It is a formula for stupidity.  It will cause dictatorship in our country. Under a democracy, continuous elections are good for the people...This bill will suffocate democracy," he said.
