2 Arunachal Pradesh Youths Missing Near China Border, Search Op Underway

Two Arunachal Pradesh youths went missing after they went along India-China bordering areas in August. The police contacted Army and a search and rescue operation is underway.

New Delhi: Two Arunachal Pradesh youths have been missing since August this year when they had set out in search of medicinal plants near the state's border with China. 

Rike Kamsi, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Anjaw district told news agency ANI that both youths identified as Bateilum Tikro (33) and Bayingso Manyu (31), had left for Chaglagam in the Anjaw district along the Indo-China border on August 19.

"Their family members lodged missing complaints before police on October 9. We have contacted Army and our search and rescue op is also on": Rike Kamsi, Superintendent of police (SP) Anjaw district said, as quoted ANI.

In July this year, one labourer died and 18 others went missing near the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey district. The labourers were engaged in road construction in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey district.

Notably, 17-year-old-Arunachal Pradesh boy Miram Taron, a resident of Jido village in Upper Siang District, went missing on January 18 this year. Chinese PLA handed the boy to the Indian Army at Wacha Damai on January 27.

He was allegedly abducted by PLA and was released after over a week. As per ANI, Miram Taron claimed that he was beaten up and given electric shocks. Miram's father Opang Taron told a news channel that his son was mentally exhausted as the whole incident scared him.

He was returned to India after the Indian Army contacted the Chinese Army for the same.
