Ganesh Visarjan 2020 Timings: Ganeshotsav or Ganesh-Utsav, which begins on Ganesha Chaturthi is being celebrated with much fanfare across the country. The festival culminates on Anant Chaturdashi which will fall on September 1, 2020. On this day, Anant Chaturdashi is celebrated with devotion all over the country, including Mumbai. Immersion of Lord Ganesha on Anant Chaturdashi is considered auspicious. It is believed that immersing Ganesha with full devotion brings happiness and prosperity to the house. On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, idol of Lord Ganesha is installed and worshipped till immersion. Some devotees perform Ganesha Visarjan on the 3rd, 5th or 7th day instead of performing it on the 11th day. Ideally on this day, the idol of Lord Ganesha is usually immersed in a water body such as a river, lake, or sea but due to Covid, Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has mandated Ganeshotsav Mandals and citizens to book a slot for visarjan online. BMC has started a website for the same purpose.
