Skype Introduces 'Meet Now' To Rival Zoom, No Sign Up Or Download Required

With its new feature, Skype is finally stepping up to create competition for Zoom.

After Facebook's Messenger app for desktop, Skype has introduced a new alternative for video conferencing with its 'Meet Now'. The feature allows users to host a conference call by creating a free unique link and inviting others via email, without having to sign-up with a Skype account or downloading its application. A person can get on it via Skype's website. However, there is a limitation to it as it is currently only supported on Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. The feature allows users to record their call and save it for later review. The recording is saved for 30 days. Users can also choose to turn on the background blur feature in case they are worried about their background setting. They can also share presentations, work materials or designs in conference call. With its new feature, Skype is finally stepping up to create a competition for Zoom as the latter requires people hosting a video conference to sign up and install its app. So the new feature may really be handy for several people who are using video conferences to work, study or socialize. The booming popularity of Zoom has put it under the spotlight and lead to its ongoing scrutiny. As the list of complaints & issues pile up, relatively older popular options like Skype & Messenger may shine.
