Samsung to pay Apple USD 539 million over patent infringement
California [United States], May 25 (ANI): Following a seven year battle over patents, Samsung has been ordered to pay USD 539 million in damages to Apple.
The companies had been embroiled in legal fight involving five patents with Android phones Samsung sold in 2010 and 2011, Cnet reported.
The damages were decided by jurors at a federal court in San Jose, California and the major portion of the damages was for infringing three Apple design patents, while the remaining was for two utility patents.
Samsung was already found to have infringed on the patents. Apple had originally sought USD 2.5 billion in damages and Samsung had argued it should only pay USD 28 million this time. (ANI)
