New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti announced repealing of the three farm laws in the upcoming winter session of the Parliament.
Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi in his tweet wrote, “farmers of the country through their protest have bowed down the government. Congratulations on the victory against injustice.”
The official twitter handle of the Congress wrote, “the ego has come down and the farmers of the country have won.”
Meanwhile former Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amrinder Singh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “acceding to the demands of every Punjabi.” In his tweet, Amrinder wrote, “Great news! Thankful to PM @narendramodi ji for acceding to the demands of every punjabi & repealing the 3 black laws on the pious occasion of #GuruNanakJayanti. I am sure the central govt will continue to work in tandem for the development of Kisani! #NoFarmers_NoFood
@AmitShah”
Navjot Singh Sidhu, President of the Punjab Congress Committee has also reacted on repealing the farm laws. “Repealing of black laws a step in the right direction …. Satyagrah of Kisan morcha gets historic success…. You’re sacrifice has paid dividends…. Revival of farming in Punjab through a road map should be the top priority for the Pb govt ….accolades,” worte Sidhu.
As reported by ABP News, Yogendra Yadav in his reaction said that better late than never. Shivsena hailed this move as a victory for the farmers.
Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee congratulated the farmers. She also expressed her condolences for the farmers who had lost their loves during the protest. "My heartfelt congratulations to every single farmer who fought relentlessly and were not fazed by the cruelty with which @BJP4India treated you. This is YOUR VICTORY! My deepest condolences to everyone who lost their loved ones in this fight. #FarmLaws," wrote Mamata.
Congress senior leader P Chidambaram termed the move as "fear pf impending election." in his tweet, Chidambaram wrote, "What cannot be achieved by democratic protests can be achieved by the fear of impending elections! PM’s announcement on the withdrawal of the three farm laws is not inspired by a change of policy or a change of heart. It is impelled by fear of elections!"
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, "I salute the farmers of my country." What great news was received today on the day of Prakash Parva. All three laws were repealed. More than 700 farmers were martyred. Their martyrdom will be immortal. The coming generations will remember how the farmers of this country had put their lives on the line to save agriculture and farmers. I salute the farmers of my country," wrote the CM in his tweet.
Bhim Army Chief Chandra Shekhar Azad also took to Twitter to react to the decision. He wrote that the government rolled back its decision due to the fear of upcoming elections. He further wrote that this is victory for farmers’ struggle.
