New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to several media reports, the man identified as Salman called the police control room around midnight, threatening to kill the Prime Minister.

His threat call sent the Delhi Police and the central agencies into a tizzy, and prompted a night-long search. Police oppointed several teams to locate the caller. A police team reportedly engaged the caller in a conversation while the other traced his location through technical surveillance, reported Hindustan Times.  The central agencies were also alerted about the call

The search ended when the accused man was traced to northeast Delhi’s Khajoori Khas and detained in the early hours of Friday.

The officials are questioning Salman alias Arman, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, to ascertain why he made the threat and whether someone had influenced him.

This is not the first time that PM Modi received a death threat call. Last year in January too, PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah received a death threat. A man allegedly posted messages online against the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC).
