PM Modi, Australian Deputy PM Marles to Attend World Cup Final in Gujarat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles are set to attend the World Cup cricket final between India and Australia in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar to oversee security and other arrangements for the match, scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, news agency PTI reported.
The chief minister, along with top officials, reviewed security measures, including the deployment of 4,500 personnel to ensure the safety of the ground, teams, VIPs, and manage traffic. Patel emphasized the importance of minimal disruption to the public due to VIP movement, instructing officials to provide advance information about road closures and diversions. Additionally, he urged increased metro train frequency towards Motera station for the convenience of fans arriving from various parts of the country and abroad.
Ahead of World Cup Final, Chandigarh Police Advisory Against Cracker Bursting
Ahead of the ODI World Cup final between India and Australia in Ahmedabad, Chandigarh Police issued a public advisory banning firecrackers and loud music on roads on November 19. The advisory highlighted the tendency for post-sports event celebrations, leading to issues such as noise pollution, traffic problems, and law and order disturbances, PTI reported.
In compliance with orders from the District Magistrate, UT Chandigarh, the police prohibited the gathering of five or more persons at any public place without permission, bursting of firecrackers, playing loud music on sound amplifiers, and the use of dhols or drums at any public place after 10 pm. Public screening of the cricket match in the open is also prohibited without prior permission.
Delhi Declared 'Dry Day' for Chhath Puja Celebrations
The Delhi Excise Commissioner has declared Sunday, November 19, as a 'Dry Day' in the capital city in light of the upcoming Chhath Puja celebrations. In accordance with the provisions of Rule 52 of Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, all licensed establishments, including L-1, L1F, L-2, L-3, and others, are directed to observe the Dry Day, news agency IANS reported.
As per the order, licensees are not entitled to any compensation for the changes, and they must prominently display the order at their licensed premises. On the declared Dry Day, business premises of licensees shall remain closed, and the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.
