Gopal Rai To Convene Meeting As Delhi's Air Quality Declines to 'Very Poor' Levels
Delhi's Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, has scheduled a crucial meeting with concerned departments for Monday to discuss the implementation of measures outlined in the central government's pollution control plan, PTI reported citing officials. This decision follows a sharp decline in Delhi's air quality, which reached 'very poor' levels on Sunday, marking the first such instance this season. The capital's 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) plummeted from 248 on Saturday to 313 (categorized as 'very poor') on Sunday due to adverse meteorological conditions.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), a statutory body responsible for proactively enforcing the pollution control plan known as the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), had issued directives on Saturday. These instructions included raising parking fees in the National Capital Region (NCR) to discourage private transport and improving the services of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or electric buses and metro trains in anticipation of heightened pollution levels.
Amit Shah to Launch NCEL Logo, Website, and Brochure
The Union Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah, is set to unveil the logo, website, and brochure of the recently established National Cooperative for Exports Limited (NCEL). This launch will take place during a national symposium held in the national capital. At the symposium, Minister Shah will also distribute membership certificates to NCEL members, and discussions will encompass a wide array of topics, including the facilitation of cooperatives for export market linkages, the potential of Indian agri-exports, and cooperative-related opportunities.
The formation of NCEL was initiated after Shah underscored the necessity of establishing a national-level multi-state cooperative society to serve as an overarching entity for cooperative sector exports. Registered under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act on January 25 this year, NCEL boasts an authorised share capital of Rs 2,000 crore. Membership is open to cooperative societies ranging from primary to apex levels that are interested in exports. NCEL's primary aim is to facilitate the export of surpluses available within the Indian cooperative sector, expanding its reach beyond the country's borders. This includes agriculture, allied activities, handloom, and handicraft items, with a target to double its revenue by 2025, reaching approximately Rs 2,160 crore.
