PM Modi To Inaugurate 141st IOC Session At Jio World Centre In Mumbai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 141st IOC session at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai today. The IOC Session serves as the gathering of the International Olympic Committee members, where crucial decisions shaping the future of the Olympic Games are taken. The session a platform for interaction and knowledge exchange among various stakeholders in the world of sports.
"The 141st IOC Session, being held in India, embodies the nation's dedication to fostering global cooperation, celebrating sporting excellence, and furthering the Olympic ideals of friendship, respect, and excellence, a statement issued by Prime Minister's Office said.
It provides an opportunity for interaction and knowledge sharing among the various sports related stakeholders, it added.
It is the second time that India is hosting an IOC Session, after a span of four decades, the first being in 1983 when the 86th session was held in New Delhi.
Maratha Quota Activist Manoj Jarange To Address Rally In Jalna
Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange will address a rally in Antarwali Sarathi village in Maharashtra's Jalna on Saturday, his associates said.
Jarange had started a hunger strike late August seeking quota in jobs and education for Marathas and police action on his supporters at the stir venue on September 1 had brought the issue to the forefront of the state's politics.
He broke his 17-day hunger strike on September 14 after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived at Antarwali Sarathi in Ambad tehsil and assured that his government would take all efforts to ensure his demands are met.
The rally will be held on a 160-acre plot and thousands of people are expected to attend, his associate and Maratha activist Bharat Mankar said on Friday.
"He has toured 13 districts after ending his strike and has conducted 75 meetings with community members. Thousands of volunteers are working to make the rally a grand success," Mankar added.
11 Bangladeshis Held In Pune Found In Possession Of Voter ID Cards, Aadhar
At least 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including three minors, were held after they were found staying illegally in Pune, PTI reported.They were found in possession of PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, and election cards procured using forged documents, police said.
IAF Continues Relief Ops In Flood-Hit Sikkim, 1,700 Evacuated So Far
Indian Air Force’s Chinook and Mi-17 V5 helicopters continue operations in the flood-hit areas of Sikkim, with the evacuation of over 1700 persons. Over 200 personnel were deployed to boost the relief efforts. The IAF helicopters have also delivered nearly 99 tonnes of relief material in the 200 sorties flown till date. Operations shall continue till the requirements exist, IAF officials said.
