Excise Policy Cases: SC To Hear Sisodia's Bail Pleas On Tuesday
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court's decision to reject his bail pleas in cases filed by the ED and CBI related to the alleged liquor policy scam.
According to the cause list on the Supreme Court's website, a vacation bench consisting of Justices Aravind Kumar and Sandeep Mehta is set to hear Sisodia's pleas on Tuesday.
As per PTI, on May 21, the Delhi High Court dismissed Sisodia's bail applications in the separate cases lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), dealing a significant blow to the former deputy chief minister. The high court cited serious misuse of power and breach of public trust by Sisodia in its ruling.
The high court stated that Sisodia's actions amounted to a "great betrayal of democratic principles" and noted that he allegedly destroyed crucial evidence, including electronic records.
