LIC IPO: Centre Likely To File Updated Draft Red Herring Prospectus On April 13

The government is expected to submit an updated draft of the red herring prospectus (UDRHP) for Life Insurance Corporation of India's (LIC) Initial Public Offering (IPO) with market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

The government may sell 5-6.5 per cent of its stake in LIC in order to raise Rs 50,000-60,000 crore in the stock market. The IPO was supposed to go live in March, but it was pushed back owing to the slow market created by the Russia-Ukraine scenario.

The government has approved holding the largest initial public offering (IPO) of LIC between April 25 and 29.

According to a press release from the Department of Agricultural Meteorology at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad, widespread rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and southern/coastal Karnataka from April 14 onwards due to a strong upper air circulation pattern in the southern ocean of Tamil Nadu.

“When it comes to the North interior Karnataka region, highly localised thunderstorms are expected on April 12-13 and light to medium rains at many places coupled with lightning from April 14-17,” the release said.

Russia Ukraine Conflict

With Russia changing its strategy in Ukraine and focusing in east, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on Monday that Russia could use chemical weapons urging the West to impose stricter sanctions on Moscow to prevent talks about using such weapons.

Ukrainian MP Ivanna Klympush on Monday tweeted that an "unknown substance" has been used in the southern city of Mariupol, which is causing respiratory failure and movement disorders.

Petro Andryushchenko, an aide to the mayor of Mariupol, wrote on his Telegram channel that a chemical attack had not been confirmed and that he expected to provide details and clarifications later. In a video address on Monday night, Zelenskyy said, "We treat this with the utmost seriousness." However, he did not confirm that chemical weapons had already been used.

“I would like to remind world leaders that the possible use of chemical weapons by the Russian military has already been discussed. And already at that time it meant that it was necessary to react to the Russian aggression much harsher and faster,” he said according to Reuters

Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP, was injured on Wednesday when an iron barricade fell on his feet during a law violation programme of the party in Birbum district of the state, police sources said.
