Ideas of India 2025: ABP Network is gearing up for the much-awaited fourth edition of its Ideas of India Summit, taking place on February 21-22, 2025, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai. Renowned for igniting impactful conversations, the summit will unite a diverse group of thought leaders, policymakers, business leaders, and cultural figures for two days of thought-provoking discussions.
This year, the summit will focus on a range of critical topics. Dr Ashima Goyal, Economist, Professor Emeritus, IGIDR and Former Member, India's Monetary Policy Committee and Professor Ashwani Mahajan, Author, Columnist, and National Co-convenor, Swadeshi Jagran Manch will share insights on the topic ‘The Growth Accelerator Club Making the Right Choices’. Ashima Goyal is actively involved in India's policy debates, she has served on several government committees, including the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and the RBI's Technical Advisory Committee for Monetary Policy. She has also been a board member for various educational and financial institutions. Goyal is a former member of RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee, an independent director at Edelweiss Financial Services, and SBI General Insurance.
In addition, she has been a visiting fellow at the Economic Growth Centre at Yale University and a Fulbright Senior Research Fellow at Claremont Graduate University, USA. Her research has been recognized with both national and international awards, including two best research awards at the GDN meetings in Tokyo (2000) and Rio de Janeiro (2001).
Professor Ashwani Mahajan, Author, Columnist, and National Co-convenor, Swadeshi Jagran Manch
Dr Ashwani Mahajan, a Professor in the Department of Economics at PGDAV College, is a renowned economist, author, columnist, speaker, and policy advocate. Some of his significant interventions include the withdrawal of the controversial land acquisition ordinance, the revision of policies on GM crop field trials, and revisions to the government’s FDI policies, particularly in retail trade and e-commerce. Dr. Mahajan has also been instrumental in advising the government on public policy matters, including the Foreign Trade Policy.
As a researcher and activist focusing on the WTO and international trade agreements, he has attended key WTO ministerial conferences in Geneva, Bali, and Nairobi. He participated in a high-level consultative meeting on Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), ‘India and FTAs: A Way Forward,’ which was attended by top international trade experts, economists, and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
