CT 2025: Bangladesh Skipper Reflects On Defeat Vs India, Shares His Views On Rawalpindi Pitch
IND Vs BAN: Bangladesh skipper reflects on his side's disappointing loss to India, and further talked about upcoming matches at Rawalpindi.

IND Vs BAN: Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto did not have a good start to his ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, as his side succumbed to a comprehensive 6-wicket defeat to India on Thursday. With the defeat, the side are now in a do-or-die situation, as one more defeat will knock them out of the competition.
Speaking during the post-match presentation, the 26-year-old stated that their performance in the batting powerplay dismissed any hopes of their chances of winning this fixture and pulling off a great upset.
"Yes, obviously. The way we batted in the first powerplay cost us. We lost 5 wickets in the first 10 overs. It cost us the game. We were 25-30 runs short. I think so. Jaker and Towhid batted well, but we still made mistakes on the field. Dropped catches and a few runouts were missed, the result could have been different," said Najmul Hossain Shanto.
"The way Hridoy and Jaker Ali batted was brilliant to see. It was impressive batting from the duo. It is brilliant to see the way they handled the spin bowling. I hope they continue it in the next two matches," said the Bangladesh Captain.
'We Are Familiar With Rawalpindi Pitch': Najmul Hossain Shanto
Bangladesh will now play their remaining two matches at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, a surface that promises help to batters and spinners, due to his slow and low-bounce nature.
Pakistan and New Zealand will be vary of the threat Rishad Hossain can possess on the surface, as he was extremely decisive against India in Dubai.
"I don't think we were short on the spin department. Mahmudullah is injured. He missed this game. He can bowl some spin. Still, we could have bowled well with the new ball. If we got wickets with the new ball, it could have been different. I don't think that the conditions in Rawalpindi are new to us. We played Pakistan there recently," he added.
