Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh reached the NIA office in south Mumbai in a car around 9.30 am today and went directly inside the anti-terror probe agency office, where he will be questioned in connection with the Mukesh Ambani security scare.

Mumbai: Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on Wednesday appeared before National Investigation Agency (NIA) for the first time to record his statement in connection with the an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence and mysterious death case of Thane-based businessman Manuskh Hiren.

As per early inputs, Singh reached the NIA office in south Mumbai in a car around 9.30 am today and went directly inside the anti-terror probe agency office, where he will be questioned in connection with the Mukesh Ambani security scare.  He left the NIA premises after 3 hours of interrogation.

Speaking exclusively to ABP News, Parambir Singh said,: "NIA wanted to verify some facts about Sachin Vaze. I have co-operated with them in investigating. I am not stressed at all neither I have any role in this. I shall continue my cooperation with the investigating agencies in future if required."

Singh was removed from the post of Mumbai police chief last month after the recovery of the vehicle with explosives near Ambani's house on February 25, followed by mysterious death of businessman Manuskh Hiren, whose body was found in the Mumbra creek in neighbouring Thane on March 5. At present, Param Bir Singh has been transferred and posted as DG Home Guard.

The NIA probing the case, has arrested several people, including suspended Crime Branch police officer Sachin Vaze and seized several high-end vehicles used by him. It also arrested suspended police constable Vinayak Shinde and cricket bookie Naresh Gor in connection with the murder of Mansukh Hiran.

In February, an explosives-laden Scorpio was found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's house in south Mumbai with a threat letter inside. Hiran, who was in possession of the SUV, had claimed that it had been stolen a week earlier, but the case got murky when he was found dead in a creek in Thane on March 5.
