Mythological Story Behind Ram Navami:
Scriptures narrate a mythological tale regarding the births of Lord Ram and his three brothers. It is said that when King Dasharatha's queens, Kausalya, Sumitra, and Kaikeyi, didn't conceive children, he arranged for a Putreshthi Yajna. After consuming the prasad, each queen conceived. Kausalya bore Ram, Kaikeyi bore Bharat, and Sumitra bore Lakshman. Since then, this date has been celebrated as Ram Navami.
Ram Navami Puja Procedure:
To perform Ram Navami puja, following procedures are to b followed:
- Wake up in the morning and first perform ablutions.
- Then worship and anoint Lord Ram at home or in the temple.
- Perform the puja of Lord Ram with Shodashopachar Vidhi, offering sandalwood, flowers, new clothes, etc.
- Offer kheer as Bhog.
- Reading the Ram Charit Manas on Ram Navami is excellent, but if time is short, reading Sundarkand is essential. This brings prosperity and happiness to the home.
- On the day of Ram Navami, keep a bowl of Ganga water and chant the Ram Raksha Mantra 108 times. Sprinkle this water on the corners of the house to dispel all negativity.
