Tamil Nadu: Pet Dog Helps To Catch Man Trying To Flee After Raping Mentally-Challenged Woman
The dog raised alarm by constant barking and stopped the accused from leaving the premise by biting on its pant.
Chennai (Tamil Nadu): At a time when we are losing faith in humanity, dogs have once again proved to be the most loyal companion one can ever have. In one such act of compassion, a pet canine prevented a man from feeling after raping a mentally challenged woman at her house in Selvapuram.
The dog raised alarm by barking and woke up the family members when the accused was trying to flee the spot after committing the heinous crime. The woman’s family members got hold of the accused and later handed him over to the police on Saturday. The accused has been identified as 29-year-old S Dhilipkumar who had visited the house of the victim in Selvapuram on Friday night. As per the report in DNA, the victim is a 30 year old woman, who used to live separately in the shed of the house while the family resided inside within the same compound.
The accused is said to be a goldsmith by profession.
It seemed that the accused was aware of the victim’s whereabouts and parked his vehicle at a distance from the house before entering the compound thinking he would not be caught. The pet dog came to the spot and and blocked Dhilipkumar from leaving the premise by biting on its pant. The woman’s family who woke up at because of the noise went to the shed and raised alarm after which the locals who rushed to spot caught the accused.
The accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 376 (2) (e) (raping woman knowing her to be pregnant), 506 (i) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and has been remanded to judicial custody.
During interrogation, some objectionable videos were recovered from the accused with clippings of the woman on his phone. As per the report, it was revealed that the accused had sexually assaulted the victim twice and recorded it on the mobile phone.
