Ladakh To Host Unique Fashion Show At World's Highest Motorable Road For G20 Summit

The beauty pageant during the festival will showcase women leaders from G20 countries and guest nations, featuring titleholders of prestigious pageants.

The Ladakh International Music Festival is gearing up for its latest edition, promising a plethora of unique and exciting events. Among the highlights is a one-of-a-kind fashion show, the "Ladakh International Fashion Runway," which will take place at the world's highest motorable road, Umling La, situated at an impressive 19,022 ft. The entire event, aptly named the Ladakh Art and Entertainment Alliance, is scheduled to run from August 23 to September 3 this year.

The beauty pageant during the festival will showcase women leaders from G20 countries and guest nations, featuring titleholders of prestigious pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth, news agency ANI reported.  This gathering will provide a platform for these accomplished individuals to share ideas of empowerment through peace and friendship, the report said. 

According to the report, among the participants walking the ramp will be Vanshika Parmar, Miss Earth from India; Giulia Ragazzini, Miss Earth from Italy; Lindsey Coffey, Miss Earth from the USA; Yuumi Kato, Miss Universe from Japan; Luissa Burton, Miss Earth from the United Kingdom; Annabella Fleck, Miss Earth from Germany; and Rifah Nanjiba Torsa, Miss World from Bangladesh, among others.

Tashi Gyalson, Chairman of LAHDC (Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council), emphasised the significance of blending local values with global decisions, which the Ladakh Arts and Entertainment Alliance aims to achieve. He further stated that this grand initiative would not only promote the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) but also carry a profound message of love, peace, and harmony to the world.

"As unique the initiative is, it is important to associate local values with worldly decisions. That is what we intend to do with Ladakh Arts and Entertainment Alliance. This Magnus opus will not only promote Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam but also bring a strong message to the world to face love, peace and harmony. What an honour and a matter of immense pride for us to host this spectacular event in Ladakh," she said, according to ANI. 

In a remarkable display of unity, all the models participating in the event will bring half a kilo of sand from their respective countries, according to the report. After the show, this sand will be mixed with concrete and molded into a creative structure representing Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, echoing the spirit of the G20 summit, at the highest altitude road in the world, it added.

Pankaj Gupta, Director and Co-founder of LAEA (Ladakh Arts and Entertainment Alliance), a twice Guinness World Record achiever and the mastermind behind this unique fashion show, expressed the event's aspiration to secure a coveted spot in the Guinness Book of World Records, as per the report. This ambitious endeavor promises to be an extraordinary spectacle that celebrates cultural exchange and global unity atop the majestic Umling La, it said.
