Haryali Amavasya comprises two words, Haryali (Sawan), and Amavasya (Full Moon Night), hence, the night of the full moon in the holy month of Sawan or Shravan is called ‘Haryali Amavasya’. According to the Panchang, this time the day is being marked on July 28, 2022. 

What Is Haryali Amavasya 2022? 

Sawan, the fifth month of the Hindu calendar, is considered sacred in Sanatan Dharma. Every year in this month the occasion of Haryali Amavasya is marked on Amavasya of Krishna Paksha. People observing this day keep fast. The special puja rituals include worshipping and planting saplings. 

Significance Of Haryali Amavasya 

It is believed that people who are suffering from Pitra Dosha can get rid of this defect by taking some special measures on this day, this ritual can help people get their pending work done. 

Pind Daan, Tarpan, Shradh Karma, etc. are performed on Sawan Amavasya for the ancestors' satisfaction. Pitra Dosh can be gotten rid of with these rituals.

When Is Haryali Amavasya 2022?

The exact tithi of Haryali Amavasya will start from 8:20 pm on Wednesday, July 27, and its ending will be observed on Thursday by 10:16 pm. In such a situation, according to the Panchang, the Vrat (fast) of the Haryali Amavasya 2022 should be kept on Thursday, 28th July 2022. 

How Should The Puja Be Perform; What Totkas Are To Be Done? 

Light a lamp of ghee on the Peepal tree on the day of Hariyali Amavasya. After that worship Lord Shiva and circumambulate the Peepal tree. Planting a Peepal tree on this day is considered auspicious.

It is said that performing a certain ritual can get rid of the pitra dosha, the ritual is to tie a dry coconut, 250 grams of rice, and 11 rupees in a piece of white fabric measuring 25 centimetres on the day of Hariyali Amavasya. Wrapping this bundle 21 times around the head. Then keep this package at a location that is hidden from view. After that assemble white sweets, fruits, and scents in a leaf and present it to the ancestors along with a drink of water.

This ritual is performed as per the sayings of the Hindu scholars and Pandits, however, the credibility of the ritual should be checked before performing.
