Hariyali Amavasya 2021 Date: The month of Shravan or Sawan has been given special religious significance as per Hinduism. This year, the month of Sawan began on July 25. Sawan is considered to be the month of Lord Shiva and he is worshipped especially during this month.

Significance Of Sawan Month In Chaturmas

The month of Sawan is the first month of Chaturmas. Lord Vishnu sleeps in Chaturmas and hands over the reins of the Earth to Lord Shiva. It is believed that in the month of Sawan, Lord Shiva travels to Earth with Goddess Parvati and blesses his devotees. Hence, Lord Shiva's devotees eagerly wait the entire year for the month of Sawan to begin.  The Kawar Yatra happens in the month of Sawan. Along with this, all Mondays and Shivratri have special significance in this month. Special emphasis has been given to 'Pradosh' fasting. All these events are dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Shravan Amavasya (Hariyali Amavasya 2021)

Shravan Amavasya is also known as Hariyali Amavasya or Sawan Amavasya. Hariyali Amavasya is considered the best date for 'Pitru Puja', 'Pind Daan', 'Tarpan' and 'Shradh'. On this day, new seeds and saplings can be planted. Planting saplings on this day is considered auspicious.

Significance of Hariyali Amavasya:

Hariyali Amavasya tells the importance of the environment in life. It rains in the month of Sawan, which increases the greenery around us. Greenery provides peace to the eyes and mind. Trees and plants make the environment better and beautiful. A good environment also plays a special role in maintaining our ecological balance.  

Sacred Fig and Holy Basil are worshiped on Hariyali Amavasya. Planting saplings of Mango, Indian Gooseberry, Sacred Fig, Banyan, and Neem on the day of Hariyali Amavasya brings happiness, peace, and prosperity in life.
