According to ANI, "Three police officers were suspended from service for their alleged involvement in criminal activities in Thiruvananthapuram city limits. 5 more police personnel suspended and 24 transferred from PS Mangalapuram in Thiruvananthapuram Rural."

The five suspended police officers have been identified as Railway Inspector Abhilash David, Mangalapuram Inspector Sajesh, Cheranalloor Inspector K.G. Vipin Kumar (Kochi City Police), Pettah Inspector Riyas Raja and Thiruvallam sub-inspector Satheesh Kumar.

The Mangalapuram police came under the radar for alleged laxity in taking action against the accused.

The government decided to track and take action against police officials after spurt in cases by criminal gangs. The summons also came after the goonda attack at Pattoor in Pettah police station limits and the explosive attack at Mangalapuram police station limit.

The authorities also reportedly received adverse intelligence reports against police officials, said a report on The Hindu.

The Home Department is also considering taking action against Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP).
