Kerala 'Human Sacrifice' Case: SIT, Forensic Experts & Sniffer Dogs Search Accused's Land To Find Clues
The SIT started the search to clear the suspicion over many other possible murders.
Chennai: Amid suspicion over the possibility of the 'sacrifice' of more people in the case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) started to excavate the land of one of the accused in Elanthoor on Saturday. The SIT along with sniffer dogs, officials and the accused reached the spot on Saturday and started the search to clear the suspicion over many other possible murders.
According to a report on Mathrubhumi, the three accused in the case Mohammed Shafi, Bhagaval Singh and Laila were taken to the spot. The one-acre of land is owned by Bhagaval Singh.
On Saturday, two dogs that were trained to identify dead bodies immediately started running towards the sacred grove when they were taken to the land. The couple had earlier revealed that they took the blood of the victims to the grove after the sacrifice.
After this, the forensic team also recovered bones from the spot and sent for a detailed probe. Talking to Hindustan Times, an SIT official said that they fear the worst since the main accused Mohammed Shafi travelled across the state to trace possible victims for the human sacrifice.
In the past five years, 12 women missing cases in Pathanamthitta and 14 cases from Ernakulam districts were reported to the police, as per the report.

On Tuesday, the police unraveled a case in which two women were abducted, beheaded, their bodies chopped into parts and buried as part of a human sacrifice ritual in the Pathanamthitta district. The two victims Roslin and Padma were lottery vendors from the Ernakulam district and they went missing in June and September respectively.
Three persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, people including members of Congress and BJP gathered at the place and started to stage a protest against the accused.
A posse of police has been deployed to control the public.
