Kerala police booked over 300 persons including Youth League members in connection with the incident.
Kerala police booked over 300 persons and arrested five members for shouting inflammatory slogans during a Youth League march organised in solidarity with Manipur victims in Kasargode. Youth League is a youth wing of Indian Union Muslim League.
On Tuesday, Youth League members organised a protest near Kanhangad to express their support for the victims of Manipur violence.
During the march, the workers have taken to inflammatory sloganeering, said a report on Manorama. Following this, BJP's Yuva Morcha Kanhangad president gave a complaint to the police.
Based on the complaint, the police booked cases against 307 members including Muslim Youth League National Council Secretary VK Fyzal Babu.
The workers were booked under various sections including 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 143 (unlawful assembly) and 147 (punishment for rioting) of Indian Penal Code.
However, the police did not make any arrests.
Meanwhile, Youth League removed Abdul Salam from the party after his sloganeering went viral on social media.
In a statement, Youth League State General Secretary PK Firoz, "Abdul Salam from Kanhangad Municipality was expelled from the Youth League as he raised slogans that are against its ideology."
He said that the workers shouted slogans deviating from the printed version given to them.
In a tweet, BJP's National Information & Technology in-charge Amit Malviya said, "Youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, an ally of the Congress, held a rally in Kerala’s Kasargode, and raised vile anti-Hindu slogans, threatening to hang them (Hindus) in front of Temples and burn them alive… They wouldn’t have dared to go this far had the Pinarayi Govt not been supporting them."
