Watch: Security Breach During PM Modi's Roadshow In Karnataka, Man Tries To Run Towards His Convoy

PM Modi was in poll-bound Karnataka where he inaugurated several projects, including a metro line in Bengaluru.

New Delhi: In an incident of security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Karnataka, a man tried to run towards his convoy in Devangere on Saturday, news agency ANI reported.

According to the report, the man was later detained by the police.

In a video, that has gone viral on the social media, a man, who is said to be a resident of Koppal, can be seen running towards PM Modi’s convoy as the security personnel try to stop him.

“There was no breach in security as such of PM at Davangere today. It was an unsuccessful attempt. The man was caught immediately by myself and SPG at a safe distance. Appropriate action is being taken in this regard,” ANI quoted Alok Kumar, ADGP, Law & Order, Karnataka, as saying.

In a similar security breach during the Prime Minister’s visit to Karnataka earlier in January, a young man broke through a police barricade and rushed towards his car during a roadshow in Hubballi.

The incident took place when PM Modi was standing on the footboard of his moving car and waving at a crowd that had gathered to attend the rally.

PM Modi was in poll-bound Karnataka where he inaugurated several projects, including a metro line in Bengaluru.

Making a powerful pitch for the return of the BJP government in the southern state, PM Modi said, “Karnataka has seen a long period of opportunistic and selfish coalition governments. Karnataka has faced losses due to such governments. So, for fast-paced development of Karnataka, BJP's full majority, and stable government is needed.”

"When no one gets full majority, will Karnataka be in bad shape or not? Do you want a strong and stable government? Do you want a government with full majority? The first job should be to bring Karnataka out of the politics of manipulation and take it forward at a fast pace," he added.
