After the attack on Sunday, tensions escalated as the victim alleged that the assault was provoked since he played 'Hanuman Chalisa'.

Protests erupted in Bengaluru on Tuesday after an altercation between a group of individuals and a shopkeeper during 'Azaan' time on Sunday. The incident unfolded on March 17 when a shopkeeper played devotional songs near Siddanna Layout, leading to tensions and subsequent protests. Azaan is the call for prayer usually five times a day in a mosque.

Police also took Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje and BJP MLA S Suresh Kumar into preventive custody. Authorities stated that five individuals, including two were apprehended on Tuesday, in connection with the incident.

Earlier, the shopkeeper who was attacked by a group of over five men for playing devotional songs in Bengaluru said, "If something serious had happened to me in the incident that happened on Sunday, who would have been answerable? It feels good that people have come here to support me."
