'Amit Shah Wants To Play Politics': CM Siddaramaiah Slams Slams HM's Remarks On Neha Hiremath Murder Case

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah dismissed Union Home Minister Amit Shah's comments on Neha Hiremath's murder as politically motivated. Siddaramaiah criticised Shah's linking of the incident to "love jihad," suggesting it was a political move. He also questioned Shah's actions in Manipur.

Neha (21), a first-year MCA student and daughter of a Congress corporator, was reportedly stabbed to death by her former classmate Fayaz Khodunaik on a college campus in Hubballi on April 18.

On Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement over Neha Hiremath's murder case, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said, "Whatever he is saying is because of politics. We caught the accused immediately, we also spoke to the public prosecutor to seek stringent punishment for him. He is calling the incident as love jihad because he wants to play politics...what has he done in Manipur..."

Earlier, Neha's parents visited Union Home Minister and sought for swift and severe punishment for the accused in Hubballi.

Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Hubballi city, criticised the Congress and questioned their handling of Neha Hiremath murder case. He accused them of neglecting security for girls on educational campuses and called for accountability. Shah pledged to enhance security in Karnataka.

"They (Congress) are claiming it to be a case involving personal matters. You won't protect the girls who go to educational campuses? Will they be killed? If you are not capable, leave the seat of power. We will ensure security in Karnataka," he said, as per a report on IANS.
