Karnataka To Relax Covid Restrictions, Schools To Resume Functioning In Bengaluru From Monday

On Friday, the state has recorded 31,198 and more than half of the cases coming from Bengaluru along with 50 people succumbing to the virus

New Delhi: Karnataka government on Saturday decided to relax Covid-19 restrictions in the state. In connection with relaxing Covid curbs, schools to resume functioning in Bengaluru while the night curfew will be lifted from Monday (January 31).

On Friday, the state has recorded 31,198 and more than half of the cases coming from Bengaluru along with 50 people succumbing to the virus. The positivity rate stood at 20.91 per cent.

"We've decided to open schools in Bengaluru from Monday. Night curfew to be lifted from Jan 31; have directed concerned depts to ensure that proper SOPs are followed. Marriage functions are permitted with 200 members indoors and 300 outdoors," Karnataka Minister BC Nagesh told ANI.

"Gyms will continue with 50% capacity. Bars, hotels, have been allowed to open. Govt offices to work with 100% capacity. Offering prayers in the temples also allowed. Protest, sit-ins, religious congregations, political programs are prohibited," the minister added.

"Darshan and service will be allowed in religious places at 50% capacity; swimming pool and gym at 50% capacity. Sports complexes and stadiums allowed to open at 50% capacity," he further said.
