Karnataka Hijab Row: 'I Demand NIA Probe As It's An International Conspiracy', Says Udipi BJP MLA

New Delhi: Amid unrest across the country due to the ongoing hijab row, Udipi BJP MLA Raghupathi Bhat said that hijab cannot be banned in the district but in schools, uniforms should be followed.

According to an ANI news agency, Udipi BJP MLA said, "I've demanded NIA probe as it's an international conspiracy. No Muslim country is against us except Pak. Hijab can't be banned in Udupi. It's their religious right but in schools, the uniform should be followed."

Raghupathi Bhat, who is also a president of the college development committee at Women’s Govt PU College, on Saturday said that some of the girls were given special training to rake up the issue.

"Campus Front of India wants political gain. Our 6 girls are innocent but they are somehow in their control. Overall 12 girls had special training in a hidden place. Six students were forced to bring this issue to the fore," he said in an interview with ANI news agency.

Meanwhile, amid hijab row protests, Section 144 CrPc imposed in Udipi district for six days starting from February 14-19, reports ANI.
