The High Court has concluded the hearing for the day and the hearing to continue on Thursday at 2.30 PM

New Delhi: Karnataka High Court has been hearing hijab issue for the last three days and the three-judge bench on Wednesday asked the state to file objections to an application seeking directions for students to use their dupattas of uniform colour as headscarves.

Besides, Senior advocate and Professor Ravi Varma Kumar questioned the judges why only the hijab is being questioned, why not the turban of a sikh or the cross of the Christians are not being discussed?

The High Court has concluded the hearing for the day and the hearing to continue on Thursday at 2.30 PM.

Before the judges rose, while talking about the religious symbols, senior advocate Kumar questioned why is the government making this discrimination by only picking hijab as an issue. "I am only showing the vast diversity of religious symbols in all sections of the society. Why is the government picking on hijab alone and making this hostile discrimination? Bangles are worn? Are they not religious symbols? Why are you picking on these poor Muslim girls?" he asked as quoted by NDTV.

He further reportedly questioned, ghoongats, bangles and even turbans and crosses are not questioned, then why only hijab-clads should be barred from attending classrooms.
