All Symptomatic Close Contacts Of Covid Patients Should Be Tested: Karnataka Govt
Karnataka is currently recording a surge in Covid-19 and Omicron subvariant JN 1 cases reported in the state.
Amid a surge in the novel coronavirus cases registered in Karnataka, the state government issued an order on Friday stating that all symptomatic close contacts of novel coronavirus patients should be tested for the infection. As of Thursday, Karnataka has 479 active novel coronavirus cases in the state. One person also succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours in Karnataka.

Given the current Covid-19 situation and with Omicron subvariant J.N. 1 being reponed in Karnataka, the state said, "Testing forms the basis for early detection of Covid-19 and initiation of early treatment to the patient. As a matter of precaution, it is advised that along with the targetted testing norms issued earlier, all symptomatic close contacts shall also be tested for Covid 19."
Going forward, the state said, doctors and paramedical staff from PHCs/UPHC's/Namma Clinics will visit COVID-19 patients under home isolation.
"Almost 400 Covid 19 patients are in Home Isolation presently and few are admitted in general isolation wards in hospitals. Henceforth, Covid 19 patients under home isolation and general ward admissions shall be visited by doctors/ paramedical staff from PHCs/UPHC's/Namma Clinics etc atleast once to assess the medical condition & symptoms of the patient and suggest further steps for treatment. In BBMP area, this shall be monitored by the Zonal Health Officers," it said, in a release on Thursday.
