The Bill has got the ascent of Karnataka Assembly Speaker, Vishweshwara Hedge Kageri, as he announced that the anti-conversion bill can be introduced according to the procedure, and it will be taken up for discussion on December 22 (Wednesday).

Even after the state cabinet cleared the Bill, the Karnataka Congress stood together to oppose it as on Monday, DK Shivakumar said that the Bill is against the constitution and seeks to destroy harmony and will create communal tension. "Congress party will oppose it outright (in the Assembly). It's against the Constitution & seeks to destroy harmony & create communal tension. It'll lead to a dip in investment in Karnataka," said KPCC president on Monday.
