Karnataka | 'All Are Equal In Govt's View': CM Bommai On Campaign Seeking Wakf Board Ban
The state has of late witnessed several campaigns along religious lines, including a boycott on halal meat and a ban on Muslim shopkeepers at local temple fairs.
New Delhi: In the wake of an ongoing campaign seeking the ban on Wakf Board, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that all are equal to the government and the state’s aim is to maintain law and order.
Speaking to IANS reporters, Bommai said that the government has nothing to do with the campaign. He was on his way to participate in in an event in Basavakalyan.
The CM, in reply to a question on Sri Ram Sena founder Pramod Mutalik's decision for a campaign to ban the Wakf Board, as quoted by IANS said, “People do practice their respective traditions. Government is being run in accordance with the laws. The government has nothing to do with these campaigns,” adding, “I am very happy to be in the land of Basavanna. I have come with hopes of comprehensive development of the region.”
Earlier, Bommai had announced that an anchor bank would be set up within a month to meet the financial demands of the members of women's self-help groups in the southern state.
The anchor bank would herald a revolution in employment in the state, Bommai had said.

On Friday, the civic body of Bengaluru prohibited slaughter of animals and sale of meat on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami on April 10.
According to a report by news agency PTI, "There will be a blanket ban on the slaughterhouses, animal slaughter and the sale of meat on Sri Rama Navami," said an order issued by the joint director of the animal husbandry department of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.
